Michael A. Schulz, 60, passed away peacefully with his children by his side, at UW Swedish American Hospital after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Mike was born on December 8th, 1965, in Oak Park, IL to Marvin and Sandra (Harris) Schulz. He was employed by the United States Postal Service in Rockford, IL for 35 years and just recently retired. He grew up in Streamwood, IL, attended schools in Freeport, IL and was a graduate of Crystal River High School in Crystal River, FL, class of 1984.
In his younger days he was a Boy Scout. His interests were collecting and enjoying records, CDs, books, and classic films. He also enjoyed bowling, softball, fishing, travelling, attending concerts, museums, and tours. He was a fan of the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs and enjoyed attending games.
Mike is survived by his children, Andrew Schulz and Amanda Schulz, both of Rockford; his mother Sandra Schulz; siblings, Jeff (Dee) Schulz, Sue Shumaker, Mark Schulz, all of Florida, Tim (Megan) Schulz of Texas; and nieces and nephews. As well as his longtime friends, Steve Kenney and Tim LaPinta.
He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Schulz in 1986 and grandparents.
Per his wishes, no services will be held. Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family burial will take place at a later date at Lena Burial Park in Lena, IL. Stateline Cremations is assisting the family, 6204 Forest Hills Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111. www.statelinecremations.com
