Michael S. Ruano

Michael Shawn Ruano, 68, of Belvidere, passed away suddenly in his home on August 29, 2026. He was born on October 16, 1957, in Beloit, WI; the son of Frank and Merry Ruano. Mike graduated from Concordia University Wisconsin in 2000. He worked for multiple health systems as a Chief Information Security Officer.

Mike had many hobbies: wine making hobbyist, woodworking, fishing, gardening, was an arborist, and enjoyed painting.

Survivors include his beloved wife Susanne Ruano of Belvidere; son Alex (Lissa) Ruano of Loves Park and Nick Ruano of Roscoe; sister Savannah (Connor) Ruano of Seattle, WA; multiple grandchildren; and nephew Aaron Ruano. He is predeceased by his parents Frank and Merry Ruano; brother Marc Ruano; stepdaughter Samantha Jo Gipp-Burleson; and stepson Ryan Gipp.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 11 am to 3 pm, on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 9634 Ricky Trail, Belvidere, IL 61008. A private burial will be held at the Rockton Township Cemetery, Rockton, IL, where he will be laid to rest next to his stepson and stepdaughter.
