Michael "Mike" Ray Pruitt, 58, of Rockford, passed away in his home on October 27, 2025, with his girlfriend Diane by his side. He was born on September 9, 1967, in Little Rock, Arkansas, the son of Leon and Delores (Kearby) Pruitt. He dealt with his sickness for a long time, and 'til the end he loved hard with his spitfire spirit and loud soul. He owned every room he walked into. From tattooing to handy work to riding a motorcycle, he did it all with passion; A beer in one hand and a cigarette in the other. His biggest accomplishment, if you were to ask him, would have been his daughter and his two granddaughters. He wasn't always the easiest to love, but to him it was the only way he knew to be.
He leaves behind his one daughter Hanna Pruitt; 2 granddaughters Elizah Peart and Kyleia Ross; his parents Leon and Delores Pruitt; sisters Vicki Pruitt and Leslie Mandzen; nieces Ashley Day and Amanda Mehlbaum; nephew Ethan Tentler; aunt Deborah Kearby; many other aunts, uncles, and cousins; and girlfriend Diane Almond. He is predeceased by both maternal and paternal grandparents.
A Celebration of Life will be from 1 to 5 pm, Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Ken Rock Community Center, 625 Adams St., Rockford, IL 61107. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the family.
