Michael H. Lafferty, 58, of Mazomanie, WI, passed away on August 2, 2025, after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by his family in Rockford. He was born on January 1, 1967, in Rockford; the son Spencer and Mary Jo (Durham) Lafferty. He was the first baby born in the new year and received all the gifts that go along with that honor. Mike graduated from East High School in 1985. He also graduated from Blackhawk Tech in Monroe, WI and Madison Area Technical College with a bachelor's degree. He worked as an electronics technician for 25 years for ETC in both Middleton and Mazomanie, WI. He was a member of Beth Eden United Methodist Church in Rockford, IL. He enjoyed fishing and listening to rock music. Mike was a gardener. He tended to a vegetable and flower garden and even had fruit trees. He was rooted in his community of Mazomanie, WI. He enjoyed being active there. He traveled with his sister Michelle and her husband Jerome. He was a very thoughtful and caring son and took care of his parents when they needed his help.
The Lafferty family would like to extend a warm thank you to ETC for their care for Mike. They made sure Mike got to his appointments and catered to a new position to meet his limitations. A thank you also goes to Sara Carlson and Aunt Shirley for their care and compassion over these recent weeks. The Lafferty family would have been lost without your help. Another special thank you goes to Heartland Hospice for their special care of Mike and his family in his final days.
Survivors include his parents Spencer and Mary Jo Lafferty; siblings Pam (Frank) DeCastris, Michelle (Jerome) Pansacala, and Brad (Holly) Lafferty; nieces and nephews Bennett and Samantha Baker, Remington (Vinny) Rodriguez, and Finley Lafferty; many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is predeceased by his paternal and maternal grandparents; and uncles Scott and Dan Lafferty.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Beth Eden United Methodist Church, 3201 Huffman Blvd, Rockford, IL 61103.
