Michael J. Keinz Jr., 51, passed away peacefully at home on August 28, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after courageously fighting a two-year battle with colon cancer.
Born on September 6, 1973, to Mike and Debi Keinz, Michael grew up with a strong sense of family and a passion for hard work. He was a devoted husband to Amanda and a proud father to his daughter, Makenna, and son, Mason. He is also survived by his siblings, Angel (Greg) Abate and Bobby (Alyx) Keinz; nieces Alexys (Colby) Abate and Morgan Abate; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.
Michael built a remarkable career as a heavy haul Owner Operator, proudly driving over one million safe miles with Landstar. Beyond his work, he found joy in drag racing, attending car shows with his family, fishing, hunting, and cheering on his favorite baseball and football teams. Known for his sarcasm, honesty, loyalty, and tireless work ethic, Michael was also an excellent father and a man whose presence left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 3:00–6:00 p.m. at Byron Dragway, 7287 N River Rd., Byron, IL. Friends and family are invited to come share memories and enjoy one of Michael's greatest passions—racing—as we honor his life together.
Though our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the love and memories that will live on forever. The family wishes to thank everyone who has prayed, reached out, and walked alongside them during this journey.
In lieu of flowers or donations, the family encourages everyone 45 and older to schedule a colonoscopy—an important step in prevention and early detection.
