Michael F. Hildebrand

June 12, 1951 — December 23, 2025

Michael Francis Hildebrand, 74, of Rockford, passed away on December 23, 2025, at Alden Park Strathmoor. He was born on June 12, 1951, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of William and Loretta (Egloff) Hildebrand.

Michael graduated from Beckman High School in Dyersville, IA, in 1970 and then he served in the US Army and returned home a disabled veteran. As a veteran, Michael volunteered his time with the VA for group meetings and dinners. He was also a member of AA. He married Evelyn Louise “Lou” Jost on September 23, 1995, in St. Edwards Church in Rockford, IL.

Win or lose, he was a devoted Raider’s football fan. He enjoyed going to breakfast at Johnny Pamcakes or Alpine View Restaurant. He wanted to include everyone when going to breakfast. He was very generous with his time and himself. Michael had a wonderful sense of humor and was considered a family guy. He was especially fond of his dogs or “ankle biters” as his family referred to them in a loving way.

Survivors include his wife Lou; daughter Sonia (J.R. Jones) Dalen; nephew Kyle (Amanda) Ruden; sisters Karen Ruden and Jean (Jim) Brincks; grandchildren Eddie, James, Forrest, and Jordan; great-grandchildren William, Seeley, Auden, and Emery; his dog Reggie; many friends including special friend Kat Niffenegger. He is predeceased by his parents; brother Tom Hildebrand; and brother-in-law Earl Ruden.

There will be a memorial service at Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at a later date. Stateline Cremations is assisting the family, 6204 Forest Hills Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111. www.statelinecremations.com
