Michael George Coleman, 73, of Rockford passed away peacefully at home with his wife at his side on April 16, 2021, after a short battle with cancer. Mike was born January 6, 1948 in Rockford, the son of William and Marjorie (Donovan) Coleman. He graduated from Auburn High School in 1965. Mike married the love of his life Tammy Simmons Viederis on March 6, 1992. He proudly served in the US Army as an MP receiving the Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal. He worked at Textron, Greenlee, and SPX and loved being retired these last few years. He attended Silver Hill Pentecostal Church. Mike enjoyed traveling (highlighting the well-worn road atlas with places to visit and scenic routes with quirky stops sometimes picking a place just because of its funny name); movies and little-known movie facts; playing ball, golfing, and bowling back in the day; and playing cards and games with friends and family. He was an avid sports fan – especially the Chicago Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks, and Cubs. GO CUBS GO! Mike was a walking encyclopedia of baseball trivia. He loved to joke and laugh and keep things light, and is forever beloved for his unique sense of humor and kindness to all. Mike will be especially missed by the king of the house, Kaner. ? Mike is survived by his wife Tammy Coleman; siblings Patty Coleman; Tim (Catie) Coleman; Terry Coleman; Tina (Bob) Rementer; Kathleen (Sam) Lomas; Mary (Stewart) Peterson; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents. Visitation is Saturday, April 24 from 11am to 1pm with Celebration of Life service at 1pm at Silver Hill Pentecostal Church, 4401 20th Street, Rockford. In lieu of flowers, donations to the family. A very special thank you to Northern Illinois Hospice for all their support and compassion. Cremation rites by Stateline Cremations of Loves Park.
