Michael James Bowers, 68, of South Beloit, died October 7, 2019 in his home. Born May 16, 1951 in Freeport, IL; son of James and Marjorie (Fitzgerald) Bowers. Graduated from Freeport High School in 1969 and served in the National Guard. Married Micki (Caldwell) Bietau on January 23, 2010. He earned patents for cabinet hinges while working for Amrock. He also worked from home for Wesco in Indiana. He was a member of A.B.A.T.E. (A Brotherhood Aimed Towards Education) and received a plaque for his donations towards our American Veterans. He was of the Catholic faith and a former member of St. Mary’s in Freeport. He enjoyed golfing and riding motorcycles. He was also very athletic and played football. The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice for their loving care of Mike. Survivors include his wife Micki; son Lucas (Shannon) Bowers; step-daughter Shannon (Kent) Voga; grandchildren Neveah, Ireland, and Kennedy Bowers, Brandon, Trenton, Jaiden, and Tristan Voga; great-grandchildren Dezmond and Christopher; mother Marjorie Bowers; brother Jeffery (Lezlie) Bowers; nieces Megan and Carli and nephew Sam; grand-nephew Braedon; best friend Dan (Laurie) Richardson; and childhood friend Phil Vittorio.
