Mary Vagle

Our dear mother, Mary Ann Vagle, sadly passed away at home surrounded by her family on Thursday April 20, 2023, at the age of 73. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and sister who was always there when we needed her. She was very loved and will be missed terribly.  She was a beautiful person who spread joy and happiness wherever she went. Mary Ann was born January 11, 1950, to Steward Scobey and Shirley (Brown) Scobey in Danville, Illinois. She married Stephen Vagle on January 9, 1971. From this marriage she was blessed with three wonderful children, sons Brad (Jen) Vagle, Joe (Heather) Vagle and daughter Amy Scott. In addition to her children, Mary Ann is survived by her brother Mike (Kathi) Scobey, sisters Cathy (Danny) Gherna and Jane (Tom) Verry, her 10 grandchildren: Conner Vagle, Vanessa Vagle, Devon Scott, Alex Vagle, Hayden Vagle, Alyssa Scott, Jessie Vagle, Bryant Vagle, Mason Vagle and Ethan Scott and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Steward and Shirley Scobey, grandparents Howard and Helen Brown, Lola Taylor (Ira), Edward Scobey (Bertha), her grandchild Cole Vagle and her former husband Steve Vagle.  Mary Ann was an avid reader, enjoyed travel, researching genealogy, and visiting the beach. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her loved ones. She was a truly special woman, and her memory will always live within us.  As per her request, no funeral or memorial service will be held.
