Mary Rodarte

Mary Ellen (Lappin) Rodarte, 62 of Rockford, IL, passed away Friday, June 19, 2020, following a short illness due to Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer at her home surrounded by family. She was born on October 1, 1957, in Belvidere, IL to Leverette E. and Maxine R. (Yerke) Lappin. Mary is proceeded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents, her parents, Leverette and Maxine, Older Brothers, Larry, Richard, and Bill Lappin.  She is survived by her brother Dennis (Karen) Lappin; her children Sarah Rodarte, Alicia Rodarte, Esteban (Lyndsey) Rodarte; Grandchildren Nikolas, Lilian, Roman, Levi, and Wyatt; and many nieces and nephews.  Mary graduated from Marengo Community High School, IBA Cosmetology School, and American College of Health Sciences with an Associate's degree in Complementary Alternative Medicine with an emphasis on Herbs and Essential oils. Mary was a Cosmetology for 30 years, owned and operated a successful bilingual Beauty Salon and Special Occasion Boutique in Woodstock, IL for 10 years. She developed an Herbal product line with salves, body butter, Elderberry Syrup, and more.  Mary enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, working with herbs and oils to help with common ailments. She was an avid crafter which ranged from jewelry, sewing, woodworking, needlepoint, crochet, Christmas crafts, painting, and more! She was the original "Jane of all trades", a lover of animals, nature, and all things positive. Everyone who knew her loved her quick Witt, light-hearted humor, and open arms.  Family and Friends were the most important aspect of her life and would have loved to see everyone come together in her honor. So please join us for a Celebration of Life to send a lot of love up to her. The event will be held Sunday, July 12, 2020, 12 pm-4 pm CST at our home 2670 Timber Trl, Rockford, IL 61107.
