Mary Mcinturff

March 8, 1932 — March 10, 2025

Mary D. McInturff, of Mt. Morris, passed away on March 10, 2025, at Franklin Grove Living and Rehab under the compassionate care of Serenity Hospice and Home. Born on March 8, 1932, in Kings, IL, Mary was the beloved daughter of Marian Shugars and David Warren.

Mary spent her childhood in Grand Detour before moving to Oregon, IL, where she graduated from Oregon High School with the Class of 1950. In June of the same year, she married Charles "Chalkeye" McInturff, embarking on a 24-year journey filled with love.

Mary had a long and fulfilling career, working at the Ben Franklin (Dime store) in Mt. Morris for 40 years until its closing. She then continued her professional journey at Kable News Company, retiring after 10 years of service.

Mary found joy in her involvement with the Mt. Morris Senior Center and cherished the Fridays spent with her Red Stone Salon girls, whom she considered her bonus family. She delighted in puzzles, playing bingo, sharing coffee with friends, and people watching.

Mary is survived by her loving daughter Sherry (Bryan) Spring, her cherished grandchildren Jodi Morrison, Kendrick (Samantha) Spring, and Tanner Spring, as well as her great-granddaughter Amber Myers. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Charles "Chalkeye" McInturff, daughter Shirley Sutton, sisters Betty and Maxine, and her brother James.

Per Mary's wishes there will be no services as she "doesn't want anyone to make a fuss". She would like you to join a friend or two, have a cup of coffee and laugh. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family or Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon, IL. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional care Mary received from the dedicated staff at Franklin Grove Living and Rehab and the wonderful team at Serenity Hospice and Home.

Mary's warmth, kindness, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and cherished memories.
