It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Grande, our
beautiful lady, on September 4, 2025, at UW Health Swedish American Hospital.
She was born on October 27, 1936, in Rockford; the daughter of Henry and Edith
(Neblock) Pliess. She grew up at the St. Francis Orphanage when her father
passed away and her mother could longer care for her and her siblings. Her sister
Francis adopted her at the age of 18 and brought
Mary to live with them. Mary graduated from East High School. She worked at and retired from Dasco Pro Inc. Mary married Lee Grande on May 30, 1987, they lived a wonderful life until his passing on February 28, 2024. Mary volunteered with the Cub Scouts. She enjoyed roller skating and spending time with her boys. Mary and Lee loved
traveling and gambling. She also loved fishing and boating on the lake. She
loved to bake, so much, that every year she would bake enough to give to all her children
and grandchildren as Christmas gifts. She never missed a
birthday, and she knew how to make everyone feel special. She treasured every moment with her family, especially the daily visits with her great-grandson Kane. This brought her joy and plenty of laughter.
Survivors include her sons, John (Terri) Lenz, Mike (Terri) Lenz, and Chad (Candace)
Lenz; 8 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; her sister Rosie Drahn; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents; husband Lee Grande; siblings Bud, Bill, and Francis; her son Randy; and her grandson Bobby.
A Celebration of Life will be from 1 to 4 pm, Sunday, September 14, 2025, at the Navy Club of Rockford, 2324 Charles St., Rockford, IL 61104. Stateline Cremations is assisting the family, 6204 Forest Hills Rd.
