Mario Fortunato, 67, of Pecatonica, passed away on March 6, 2024, in Javon Bea Hospital in Rockford, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born on August 12, 1956, in Germany; the son of Joseph and Ursula (Seababa) Fortunato. Mario served in the US Marine Corp. He married Paula Vincer on February 12, 1992, in Las Vegas. Mario worked for Ingersoll for 29 years before retiring. He was also a limo driver for 7 years where he met many famous people. Mario was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Pecatonica. He enjoyed collecting and listening to music. His favorite music was heavy metal and rock. He also loved to watch horror movies, tinker in his shed, and be outside. He preferred the weather to be hot and loved to be in the sun. Mario’s favorite food was hotdogs, preferably on the grill. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren, and he always wanted to be with his fur babies, Maggie, Gracie, and Sadie.
Survived by his loving wife Paula; daughter Crystal Fortunato; grandchildren Logan Sanders and Jadyn Olson; nieces and nephews; and special friends Pat Owen and Tracie Boolman. He is predeceased by his parents; maternal and paternal grandparents; daughter Shannon Olson; and brother Joseph Fortunato.
