Marie Surles

Marie Dawn Surles, 57, of Rockton, died peacefully in her home January 15, 2020 with her husband by her side. Born January 25, 1963 in Sliver City, New Mexico; Daughter of Woodrow W. Carpenter and Printha (Vast) Duncan. Married William Surles on March 16, 1986 in Tampa, Fl. Dawn worked at the Rockton Walmart in the bakery as a cake decorator. She also enjoyed baking and decorating personalized cakes for friends and family. She focused all her energy on her family, especially spending time with her grandkids. She loved her German Shepherds and all animals. Survivors include her husband Bill; Sons Will (Kristin) Surles II, and Justin (Niki) Surles; Daughter Ashley (Jose Hart) Surles, Grandchildren Parker and Grayson Surles. Abel Surles. Makaya, Jamal, and Destinee; Parents Woodrow Carpenter and Printha Duncan; Sister Janna (Bobby) Coogle; Sister-in-law Stacy Carpenter; Nieces Trina and Sarah; Nephews Chad, John and Robert. She is predeceased by her brothers Clay and Shane Carpenter. There will be a private Celebration of Life at a later date. Stateline Cremations is assisting the family, 712 Windsor Rd, Loves Park.
