Margaret Sadler

December 31, 1969 — March 11, 2022

Margaret “Peggy” T. Sadler, 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on March 11, 2022, in Rockford, IL. She was born on April 1, 1934, the daughter of the late Robert and Gladys (Yale) Kelly. Peggy attended Janesville High School and married Norman G. Sadler on November 1, 1961, in Janesville, WI. He predeceased her on October 25, 2012. Peggy was a former member of Holy Family Church, where she was a member of the Women’s Guild and as well as a Greeter. She was a former volunteer at St. Anthony’s Hospital and donated her time at St. Anne’s Center. Peggy was a former Brownie and Girl Scout leader and loved singing in the St. Edward’s choir. She and Norm also spent time volunteering at local soup kitchens. Peggy spent her early years working at Parker Pen in Janesville, WI. She worked many years for the Rockford School District, in the Speech department before her retirement. Peggy was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.  She is survived by her two daughters Carol (Jeffrey) Mittel of Rockton, IL and Cathy Stevens of Loves Park, IL; 5 grandchildren Mark, Katy, and Karli Mittel, Matt (Morgan) Stevens, and Emily Stevens. She is further survived by her brothers Tom (Susie) Kelly, Richard (Sally) Kelly; sisters Carm Gloede and Barbara DeVoe; sisters-in-law Bert Sadler and Joann (Chet) Kaminski; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband Peter K. Murphy; sisters Betty Meyers, Joanne Hanthorn, Rosie Woodrell, and Geraldine Quarena; brothers-in-law Robert Gloede, Dave Guarena, Harold Woodrell, and Ronald Sadler. A Celebration of Life will be held at Williams Tree Farm in Rockton, IL from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm on Thursday, March 24, 2022. There will be a private burial at Sunset Memorial Garden. A very warm and sincere thank you to Northern Illinois Hospice and the staff at Heritage Woods of Rockford for the wonderful care and compassion that was provided to our mom throughout her illness. “The song has ended, but the melody lingers on…” Irving Berlin
