Lucille Marie Welch passed away on June 27, 2020, at Alpine Fireside Health Center in Rockford, IL. She was born on December 13, 1924 in Williamson, IL to Andrew Biros and Annie Zellanock. She married Leroy Sherman Welch on May 23, 1942. Upon his return from WWII in 1946 they bought a house in Staunton, IL and continued to live in the same house for 71 years until he passed away on July 3, 2013. Lucille continued to live independently in her home until November 2018 when she moved to Rockford, IL to be near her family. Lucille was a homemaker most of her life and loved to sew, cook, and bake. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Staunton, IL, and a member of the Senior Citizens Group. She was the last living member of her family. She is survived by her son Melvin (Mary Ann) of Rockford, IL; grandchildren Patricia (Daniel) Nelson of Rockford, IL, and Kevin (Melanie) Welch of Park City, Utah. She is also survived by her four great-grandsons Nicholas and Zachary Nelson and Noah and Atticus Welch.
Per her request she was cremated and will be interred along side her husband in Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton, IL. Stateline Cremations is assisting family, 712 Windsor Rd., Loves Park. www.statelinecremations.com .
