Lowell Franklin Meyer, 85, of Rockford, passed away on September 7, 2026, at Wesley Willows. He was born on November 2, 1940, in Lanyard, IL; the son of Harper and Gladys (Wise) Meyer.

Lowell played football and graduated from Forreston High School and went on to DeVry Institute for 2 years. Lowell also enlisted in the US Army and worked as an instructor. He became an electrical engineer for Boeing and then Sundstrand Corporation for 40 years.

Lowell had many interests. He enjoyed boating and waterskiing. He would tinker with electronics, go to auctions, and traveled. He was very social and loved to dance and was known to frequent the Circle K, Blue Suede Shoes, Betty’s, and Ace of Diamonds back in the day. When he worked for Sundstrand, he played both softball and volleyball. He loved his property on Searles. It gave him the opportunity to use his John Deere tractors and ATV’s. One of his favorite past times was spending time with his grandchildren, especially going to their sporting events or academic achievement awards presentations.

Survivors include his children Shannin (Mike DeCampa) Meyer, Daniel Meyer, and Shari (John, Jr.) Lee; his former wife and the mother of his children Janet (Bill Dack) Meyer; grandchildren Samantha (Humberto Guevara) Lee, Steven Lee, and Sofia DeCampa; step grandchildren Michael and Brandon DeCampa; his girlfriend Joyce Peterson and her family; sister-in-law Evelyn Meyer; niece Kris Hogue; nephews Jeff and Galen Meyer. He is predeceased by his parents; 4 brothers; 4 sisters; his beloved dogs Chopper, Princess I and II, Mack; and cat Lady.
