Lisa Palmeno, age 60, of Rockford, Illinois passed away on Friday, December 13, 2024, surrounded by her close family. She was born on July 28, 1964, to James and Hazel (Hatfield) Palmeno. Raised in Rockford, IL, Lisa graduated from East High School in 1982. She then went on to attend college at Rockford University, graduating in 1987 with a Bachelor's in English minoring in German. She also spent time studying the English language and literature at Regents College in Europe. Lisa spent many years working as a journalist, substitute teacher, and tutor.

In 2011 Lisa published her first issue of MarketStreet Press: A local newspaper showcasing original writing and art. For 13 years she worked as the owner, publisher, and editor of MarketStreet Press. Lisa was passionate about her work and dedicated her life to her Newspaper. Outside of work, Lisa cherished her time with her family. She spent 22 years with the love of her life, Dave Kaye, who predeceased her in 2023. Lisa didn’t have children of her own but looked at her nieces and nephews like children, and their children like her grandchildren. Lisa was a creative and free spirit who enjoyed music, writing, art, and poetry.

She was also an animal advocate whose love for her fur babies was unmatched. Lisa will be remembered as a loving Sister, Aunt, and Cousin, as well as a trusted mentor and dear friend. She was a vibrant part of the Rockford community and was known and loved by many. Her memory will live on through her work and the countless lives she has touched.

Survivors include: brothers James Palmeno Jr., Joseph (Diane) Palmeno; nieces Nichole McDorman Palmeno (Shaun), Heather Castellanos Palmeno (Nelson), Victoria Palmeno, Catherine Palmeno; nephew Rickey Nabors Jr.; Uncle Bill Bailey; 7 great nieces, 7 great nephews; and many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, David Palmeno.

Visitation for Lisa will be held on January 25th from 8:30 - 9:30am followed by a memorial service from 9:30 - 10:30 am at Zion Lutheran Church located at 925 5th Ave. Rockford, IL 61104.
