Linda L. Stevens

Linda Stevens, 76, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026, at Heartline Hospice Care in Rockford, IL. She was born in Springfield to George and Emmadell Carnduff on March 14, 1949. Linda grew up in Springfield and graduated from Springfield High School in 1967. She then began a long career working as an operator for Illinois Bell. When that office closed, she transferred to the Rockford office and worked there until her retirement.

Linda married James Stevens in May 1989. They enjoyed a very happy life together. Linda was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and loved going to their games against the Chicago Cubs. She would wear one of her many red Cardinals shirts and enjoy lots of hot dogs. Linda’s biggest hobby was reading. She loved going to Barnes and Noble and coming home with bags full of books.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents and husband, “Jimmy.” She is survived by her cousins, Marla Unger of Vista, CA and Terry Bomke of Riverton, IL, their children, and her many friends.
