Lee Grande

September 13, 1937 — February 28, 2024

Lee Grande, 86, of Rockford, passed away in his home on February 28, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born on September 13, 1937, in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Arnold and Lucille Grande. He served in the US Navy as a Seabee. Lee married Mary (Pliess) Lenz on May 30, 1987. He owned his own construction company called “Lee Grande Builders” and they built homes. He loved to fish and enjoyed taking his family on boating trips to Lake Michigan. He was a wonderful cook and his family raved about anything and everything that he would make. Lee and Mary would bake every Christmas and gave away their breads and cookies as gifts. Lee loved his family, but he was especially fond of spending time with his buddy Kane. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Candy, Lee’s daughter-in-law, for going above and beyond in helping take care of Lee over the past few years.

Survivors include his loving wife, Mary; sons John (Teri) Lenz, Mike (Terri) Lenz, Randy (Kelly Luz) Lenz, Chad (Candy) Lenz, and Tracy (Chris) Grande; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister Ann (Trennis) Killigan; brother-in-law and best friend Herman “Baldy” Schultz; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents; son Chad Grande; brother Gaylord; sisters Tallulah “Toots”, Barb, and Pat; and grandson Bobby Lenz, and his rottweiler and sidekick Talu.

A Celebration of Life will be held 1 to 4 pm, Saturday, June 15, 2024, at The Navy Club, Ship #1, 2324 Charles St. Rockford, IL 61104 with military honors time to be determined. Stateline Cremations is assisting the family, 6204 Forest Hills Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111. www.statelinecremations.com
