Lawrence Francis was born July 19, 1946, and passed peacefully May 10, 2022, surrounded by his loving family and wife Phyllis Francis, while under the care of Hospice Provided by Promedica. After graduating high school, he spent three years in the United States Army. He was very proud of serving his country. He was able to travel to Germany and England during his service in the Army. Once back in the states he was employed at Elco. He worked there for 27 years until he retired in 2001. When he met his 2nd wife in 1979, they began to build a blended family. He was a devout father and husband. His children and grandchildren were his world. He always believed that the child came first no matter what the cost. Whether they where his biological family or adopted family. The children always were the apple of his eye. He loved his children and grandchildren unconditionally. In his eyes they could do no wrong. He will be greatly missed by the many of lives that he touched throughout his years. Survived by his wife Phyllis, and three sons. Larry (Brenda), Steven, and Justin (Lisa), daughter Alison Smith (Jason). Grandsons Brandon Francis, Brian Francis (Linda), Granddaughters Nicole Francis (Brandon), Audra Gronewold (Tim) Aryanna Lewis, Caitlyn Smith, Emma Francis, Destiny Cribbs, Cayla Cribbs, Grace Cribbs, and Courtney Cribbs. He also had 3 great grandchildren Joey McGuire, Athena Gronewold, and Elija Olson. Also in addition 3 bonus granddaughters Alex Lawson, Cayla Woods, and Brittney Rosenbaum, and many nieces and nephews and in-Laws; sister, Hazel Kearbey. Proceeded in death by his parents Albert and Anna Francis. Seven brothers Wilburn, Willis, Charles, Everette, Arthur, Chester, and Bennie. Two sisters Ester and Juanita. One granddaughter Celia Ann Smith. A memorial service will be Sunday, May 22, 2022, from 1 pm to 4 pm at The Twisted Tulip, 7901 Burden Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115. At 3 pm there will be a short service with military rites to follow. A luncheon will be served before the service. No outside food is allowed.
