Laura L. Garman

Laura L. Garman, 73, of Illinois, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, cherished memories, and the many people whose lives she touched.

Laura was born in Evanston, Illinois, to Robert V. Crook, Jr. and Aili Lillian Panttila, and was raised in Mt. Morris and Byron, Illinois. Throughout her life, Laura worked as a beautician and held many other jobs, always doing whatever she could to provide for and care for her family. But of all the roles she had in life, being a mother and grandmother was the one she cherished most.

Laura was truly one of the kindest souls you could ever meet. She loved everyone with an open heart and had a special way of making people feel cared for, accepted, and loved. Her family meant everything to her, and the love she gave so freely will continue to live on through the generations.

She is survived by her children, Cory Garman (Molly Fisher), Travis Garman, and Kimberly Garman (Phil Reynolds); her granddaughters, Haley and Aubree; and her great-grandchildren, Brady and Madison, who brought her so much joy. She also leaves behind her beloved cat, Casper, who was a special and cherished part of her life.

Laura was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond Garman, whom she loved dearly. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Robert V. Crook, Jr. and Aili Lillian Panttila, as well as her siblings.

Though her family will miss her more than words can express, there is comfort in knowing that Laura is now reunited with Raymond, the love of her life. We can imagine them together again, free from pain and surrounded by peace, along with the loved ones who went before her.

Laura’s greatest legacy will not be the jobs she held or the things she accomplished, but the love she gave so freely. She was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose gentle heart, kindness, and unconditional love will never be forgotten.

A special thank you to all of the wonderful and compassionate staff at Mo Cara Hospice, Fair Oaks Nursing Home, and Stateline Cremations for the care, kindness, support, and compassion shown to Laura and her family during this difficult time. Your dedication and kindness will always be remembered and deeply appreciated.

She will be forever loved, forever missed, and forever in our hearts.
