Kevin J. Thompson, 70, of Rockford, passed away peacefully in his home on July 8, 2024. He was born on March 27, 1954, in Rockford; the son of John Henry and Dorothy (Cook) Thompson. He worked as an auto mechanic and a truck driver. Kevin was a member of the Allen Chapel AME Church in Rockford. He enjoyed fishing, and anything to do with cars. He enjoyed collecting cars, tinkering with them, driving them. Kevin had a great sense of humor and was known for his cooking. Everyone wanted him to make his special baked beans and barbeque. He was also an artist and enjoyed painting.
Survivors include his life-long partner Cheryl Clikeman; children Stacey Thompson, Jemar Milap, Ravon Thompson, and Kriston Thompson; grandchildren Martel (Pre Parker) Ford, Sr., Allante Milsap, Naudia Thompson, Alajea and Amorie Hawthorne, and Cameron Thompson; great-grandchildren Martel Ford, Jr. and Aalivia Mae Ford; siblings Sanford Thompson and Beverly Thompson; nieces Andrea Cates and Crystal Person; and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents and brothers Cedric and Billy Thompson.
