Kenneth James Kenny, Sr., 83, of Machesney Park, passed away in his home on April 3, 2024. He was born on October 18, 1940, in Chicago; the son of Kenneth and Catherine (Reynolds) Kortzenborn. He graduated from Fenwich High School in 1958 and attended Loyola for 2 years. He married Mary A. Sheehan on August 25, 1962. He was the owner and president of Kenny Paper Company. Kenneth was of the catholic faith and attended St. Bridget Church. He was a lieutenant for the Glen Ellen Fire Department; Chief at Ren Valley Fire Department; NAUI Dive Rescue Instructor from 1983-1990. When firefighting and scuba rescue weren’t taking up his time, he enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include his loving wife Mary; son Kenneth J. (Stephanie) Kenny, Jr.; daughter Bridgid M. (Richard) Glass; grandsons James and Derek Garrels, Riley Kenny, Wilson Glass; granddaughters Jessica (Dave) Pomponio, Amanda Panaconi, and Kelsey McAuliffe; 6 great-granddaughters; brother Dennis Kenny; sister Deann Ducek; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents and sister Mary Catherine Bosakowski.

The family would like to extend a thank you to Northern Illinois Hospice for their care and compassion.

A Memorial Mass will be at 11 am, Thursday, April 25, 2024, at St. Bridget Church, 600 Clifford Ave., Loves Park, IL 61111, with Monsignor Steve Knox officiating. Visitation will be from 10 am until the time of service. There will also be a Celebration of Life at Kelsey’s home on Saturday, April 27, 2024, 1 pm to 4 pm.
