Kay Barton

July 4, 1944 — November 9, 2024

Kay K. Barton, 80, of Stillman Valley, passed away in her home suddenly on November 9, 2024. She was born on July 4, 1944, in Beloit, Wisconsin; the daughter of Ken and Ruby (Garey) Kencke. Kay graduated from Auburn High School, then received her Associate's degree from Rock Valley College and Bachelor's degree from Rockford College. She married Ronald W. Barton on April 3, 1971, in Cherry Valley, IL. For many years she worked in the Traffic Safety Program, as well as Community and Continuing Education divisions at Rock Valley College before retiring. Kay enjoyed gardening, tending to many vegetable and flower gardens, and especially loved her roses. She and Ron cherished being out in nature, tent camping across the country and going on hikes in many beautiful locations. Kay loved all animals, especially her cats.

Survivors include her loving husband of 53 years, Ron Barton; her daughter Danielle Barton; sister Karen Kencke; several nieces and nephews; and her cats Jimmy and Hunter. Kay is predeceased by her parents and her sister Candy Anderson.
