Karon K. Haas, 86, of Rockford, passed away on May 3, 2026, in her home at Cherry Vale Place. She was born February 3, 1940, in Galena, IL, the daughter of Dalan and Patricia (Gilbertson) Jackson.
Karon grew up in Dubuque, Iowa, before her family relocated to Loves Park, where she later graduated from Harlem High School. On October 4, 1958, she married George R. Haas, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with shared passions and simple joys. Together, they spent many happy years collecting stamps. Karon also had a fondness for collecting owls, and she found great enjoyment in crocheting. She could often be found playing cards for hours on end, always relishing the time spent with others. And she never turned down an opportunity to go out and enjoy a good margarita.
Survivors include her children Paul (Vicki) Haas and Wanda (Donald) McNair; grandchildren Amanda (Matt) Paulsen, Samantha (Jacob) Bartholomew, Colton (Ali) McNair, and Breanna (Alissa) McNair; grandchildren Aiden Paulsen and Brooklyn Paulsen, Jameson, Max, Jack, and Bennett Bartholomew, Zoë and Marlie McNair; step grandchildren Nathan (John) Long, Nicole Long, and Amanda Burden; and 4 great step grandchildren; sister Jackie (Tom) Puddicombe; and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Dalan and Patricia Jackson; husband George Haas; and twin sister Karla (Harry) Durand.
