Julie Valloni

Julie (nee Sorice) Valloni, age 80 of Rockford, and formerly of Chicago Illinois, passed away peacefully on Sunday March 28th 2021. Loving mother of Karen Romero, dear mother- in- law, of Al Romero, and cherished grandmother of James Romero; loving sister of Ralph (Cathy) Sorice; and many nieces and nephews. Julie grew up in Chicago, Illinois graduated from Austin High school and attended DePaul University. Julie had a career as a legal secretary for Jenner and Block and worked for several high-profile attorneys, including Anton Valukas. After retirement Julie found total enjoyment in seeking new adventures and traveling the world. She loved meeting new friends on trips that took her to Tibet, the Philippines, Antarctica, and many countries in Europe and Asia. Her biggest thrill however was to snorkel, and she did that extremely well. The only thing that Julie enjoyed more than snorkeling, was being with her most cherished family and friends and eating.
Julie led a life of caring, giving, and loving. One of her other favorite events was the annual Jenner & Block Hustle Up the Hancock, a 1632 stair climb, to donate money to the Respiratory Health Association. Even in Julie’s later years she enjoyed this challenge and made sure that her wonderful grandson also participated. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Janelle, Lori, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Gina and Mary of OSF Hospice, and the entire staff who showed exceptional care to Julie. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family, where they will be established into a cause at a later date. A visitation for Julie will take place Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at Shopiere Congregational Church, 5328 E Church St, Beloit, WI 53511. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 P.M.
