Joyce Elaine Remmers

April 20, 1937 — June 2, 2026

Today we celebrate the life of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and friend, Joyce Remmers.

Joyce lived a full and meaningful life of 89 years. She spent most of her life in Lena, a community she loved, before moving to Rockford to be near her sister, Betty. Throughout her life, her faith in the Lord was a source of strength, guidance, and comfort.

Joyce had a passion for real estate and spent many years as a realtor, a career she truly loved. She enjoyed meeting people, helping families, and building lasting relationships through her work.

She shared a beautiful love story with her husband, Don. Married for nearly 65 years, they built a life centered on faith, family, and devotion to one another. In retirement, they enjoyed spending time in Arizona, making memories and embracing the adventures that life brought their way.

Joyce loved spending time with her family and treasured every opportunity to visit them. She especially enjoyed traveling to Colorado to spend time with her daughter and family. Estes Park held a special place in her heart, and she loved the beauty of the mountains, the peaceful surroundings, and the precious moments shared there.

She also looked forward to visits with her son and his family in southern Illinois. Some of her happiest times were spent with them, including enjoying days on the boat in Missouri, surrounded by the people she loved most.

Joyce was a strong and independent woman, yet she also enjoyed being pampered and cherished by those around her. She possessed a quiet determination, a loving heart, and a deep appreciation for family.

After Don's passing, some of Joyce's most treasured moments came from the adventures she shared with her daughter. Together they took road trips through the places that held special family memories, revisiting familiar towns and landmarks that told the story of their lives. No outing was complete without lunch at Cracker Barrel and, of course, finding a new sweatshirt to bring home. These simple traditions became treasured moments filled with laughter, conversation, and love.

Joyce is survived by her brother, John (Jan) Holman; her son, Gary (Terry) Remmers; her daughters, Kimberly (Wayne) Eichmann and Debbie (Terry) Weegens; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. Her love, wisdom, strength, and faith will continue to live on through each of them.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Don Remmers; her parents, Vilas and Lillian Holman; and her sisters, Betty Lied and Sally Schamberger.

While our hearts are saddened by her passing, we find comfort in knowing that Joyce's earthly journey is complete and that she is once again reunited with the love of her life, Don. After years apart, we can imagine the joy of their reunion.

Her faith sustained her throughout her life, and now we trust that she rests in the peace of her Lord's presence. Though we will miss her deeply, we are grateful for the gift of her life, the memories she gave us, and the love she shared so freely
