Joyce Maske

July 5, 1952 — August 25, 2024

Joyce Maxine Maske, 72, of Rockford, passed away peacefully in her daughter’s home on August 25, 2024. She was born on July 5, 1952, in Austin, Minnesota; the daughter of Jerome and Orva (Fagerness) Pfeifer. Joyce graduated from Belvidere High School in 1970. She served in the US Navy from 1971-1973, during the Vietnam Era, stateside. She was very proud of her service. Joyce married Michael Woods Maske on August 22, 1981. He passed away on November 27, 1996. She was of the Catholic faith. Joyce was a family person and was the caregiver of the family. She loved being a mom and a grandma. She enjoyed road trips and day trips. As long as her family was together, she was happy. She was the most selfless person who always made sure everyone else was taken care of before thinking of herself. She always fought so hard for those she loved and was so generous to everyone. She was everyone's “mom”. When Joyce wasn’t concentrating on her family, she loved watching musicals, listening to showtunes, and was also an avid reader.

Survivors include her daughters Sarah (Jake) Petty and Sharon (Giuseppe) DiSciacca; grandchildren Alexandria and Evan DiSciacca; siblings Gary, Luanne, Suanne, and John Pfeifer, Linda Franke, Steven (Marj) Ostgaard, and Bobby Stebbins; aunt Sharon McVey; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is predeceased by her parents; husband Michael; sister Cheryl Taylor; and cousin Roxie.

The family will have a party to remember Joyce at a later date. Stateline Cremations is assisting the family, 6204 Forest Hills Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111. www.statelinecremations.com
