Joyce Kay Johnson, 80, of Rockford, passed away in her home on May 19, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born on January 16, 1946, in Rockford, the daughter of Walter and Mabel (Ullrich) Rudolph.
Joyce graduated from East High School in 1964. She worked for Sundstrand in purchasing for many years, retiring in 2001. She also worked for many years in the office at the Blackhawk Athletic Club, where she was an active member.
Joyce married Dennis L. Johnson on October 11, 1996, but they had been together since 1981. She was of the Lutheran faith and loved her family. She had an extremely close bond with her grandson “Willy Billy” with whom she shared a birthday. Joyce and Dennis would make the rounds to all the clubs they attended in Rockford being social. She enjoyed cleaning and keeping her home immaculate. She liked to go shopping and would travel up to Prairie Du Chen, Wisconsin.
Survivors include her loving husband Dennis Johnson; daughter Kim Grabow; stepdaughters Brandi (Chuck) Wallis and Kim (Andrew) Norton; grandchildren Teisha Hamm and Billy Ray Philbee, III; great-grandchildren Serenity Hamm, BayLi and Analicia Philbee, Nakeithian, Koran, and Joey Hamm; sister Janice Luter; nieces and nephews; and best friend Donna Jacobson. She is predeceased by her parents Walter and Mabel Rudolph; brothers Jerry and Richard Rudolph; and sister Marge Hartzell.
