Joyce Johnson

Rockford, IL- Joyce F. Johnson, 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 29, 2022, in Rockford, Illinois. She was born May 7, 1936 in Chicago,IL to the late Stanley and Estelle Calvin. Joyce married Clarence (Mike) Johnson on May 12, 1956. He preceded her in death in 2007. Joyce worked at Rockford Memorial Hospital as a secretary for over 30 years. When she retired, she went to work for the Rockford Park District at Aldeen Golf Club Practice Centre. She was an avid bowler and for many years played golf in leaguesat Ingersoll and Sinnissippi Golf courses. Joyce cherished her time spent with children and grandchildren. She was always there for them and greatly enjoyed attending their sporting events and school activities. Joyce’s favorite pastimes were reading books, doing puzzles, sewing, cooking and baking.
She is survived by her children, Sandy (Ken) Domin, Janet (Terry) Gardona Kevin (Heidi) Johnson; grandchildren, Zachary Domin, Kelsey (Joshua) Cooper, Lucas (Hayley) Gardona, Nicholas Gardona, Vanessa Gardona, Amanda (Dustin Miller) Johnson, Haley (TJ) Kruger, and Hannah Garner; great-grandchildren, Noah Domin, Mason, Madilyn, Makenna Cooper and Adalyn Gardona; siblings, Chuck (Marilyn) Calvin, Frank (Pat) Calvin, and Mary (Jack) Thrall and many nieces and nephews.
