Joseph “Pep” F. Fiorenza, 78, of Rockford, passed away in his home surrounded by his family on January 17, 2024. He was born on October 22, 1945, in Rockford; the son of Gaetano and Ann (Buda) Fiorenza. He attended both West and Auburn High Schools. He married Karla “Casey” Cipolla on October 24, 2019, after being together for 32 years. He worked in sales for Steiner Electric before retiring. Pep attended St. Bridget Catholic Church and was a member of both Mauh-Nah-Tee-See and Forest Hills Country Clubs. He worked as a volunteer at Rockford Memorial Hospital in patient services and he was even depicted on one of their advertisement banners. Pep had many interests which included his absolute passion for music, that brought him to perform in a band for many years, called Jump Street. Pep also enjoyed golfing and playing Gin in his free time. From his love of sports, early as a father, Pep enjoyed coaching his sons’ baseball teams. He loved all eight of his grandchildren, while in Pep’s later years as a great-grandfather one of his greatest joys was spending time with his great-granddaughter Nathalia.
Survivors include his loving wife Karla “Casey” Fiorenza; children Nick (Tanya Boardman) Fiorenza, Rick Fiorenza, and Staci Caravello; grandchildren Nichaela (Alex Gutierrez), Sophia (Johnny Murphy), Olivia, Joey, Dominic, and Alayna Fiorenza, Luca and Sienna Caravello; great-granddaughter Nathalia, and a baby boy on the way; and nieces Lisa and Michelle. He was also very close to his cousins Janice Pumilia, and Dominic and Leonard Buda. He is predeceased by his parents Gaetano and Ann; and his brother Frank Fiorenza.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 am, Saturday, February 3, 2024 at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Ave., Loves Park, IL 61111. There will be a visitation from 9:30 am until time of Mass .
