Johnny Magnuson

Johnny Louis Magnuson, Sr., 67, of Rockford, passed away on April 5, 2022, in Swedish American Hospital. He was born on May 23, 1954, in Rockford, the son of Joyce Magnuson. He married Peggy S. Thompson on September 18, 1981. John worked as a machinist for Ro-Pal Grinding in Rockford. If you needed to find John, he was probably out fishing or at the Rockford Speedway. He enjoyed communicating with his CB radio and loved to talk on the phone. He had the gift of gab and never met a stranger. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his granddaughter. John is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Peggy Magnuson; children Russell (Danielle Buss) Magnuson, Stacy (Nanette Salgado) Magnuson; daughter-in-law Christa Magnuson; grandchildren Greg, Aaron, and Deziree Magnuson; mother Joyce Jackson; sisters Marion Jackson and Julie (Ken) Dean; and nephew Erik Jackson; and cousin Russell (Peggy) Lyman. He is predeceased by his step-father Melvin Jackson; and his son Johnny Louis Magnuson, Jr. A Celebration of Life will be announced soon.
