John Enfinger

UPDATED SERVICE INFORMATION: John D. Enfinger, 58, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2022. John was born on February 10, 1964, to Dolores (McKinney) Enfinger in Rockford, where he was raised. He attended Harlem High School (class of 1982), and was very involved in basketball and football. He particularly favored football, where he played both quarterback and safety in defense. He truly made lifelong connections through Harlem and the Boys Club. After high school, he went on to work for Kaiser in Byron, Illinois, and later on for Paccar in Rockford for 27 years.  John’s enthusiasm and passion for sports carried on through his entire life, and he was a loyal Chicago sports fan- primarily for the Bears. He could tell you anything you wanted to know about any player, any statistic, or really any team outside of Chicago sports. This great knowledge carried on into other aspects of his life, and made John very personable. It was easy to reminisce and rekindle with his sharp memory and recollection of the good days. His sense of humor could often be described as loving sarcasm, but everyone who knew John ultimately knew he had a huge heart for others.  In August of this year, John had the opportunity to reconnect with so many special friends at his high school reunion. He was extremely grateful and thankful to spend time with his former classmates, and catch up.  He is survived by his mother, Dolores Enfinger; brothers, Dave (Rheta) Enfinger and family, Bobby (Deb) Enfinger and family, Michael (Chris) Enfinger and family, and Dan (Lenora) Enfinger and family; sister, Sande (Sam) Knighton and family; many, many, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; special friends, Brice Evans and family, Tim Palmer and family, and so many others.  A celebration of life for John will take place Sunday, November 20, 2022, from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M., at the Roscoe VFW, 11385 2nd St., Roscoe, IL 61073, with Anna Maria's catering.
