No matter what you the reader read within this text, it will never truly describe the type of man John P. Drnek was. I the writer can only attempt to scratch the surface in the hopes of truly conveying the essence of who he was and who I’d like to think he still is. John was born June 23, 1960, and peacefully left this world on April 29 2023. He transcended this life in his home surrounded by his wife of 38 years Jeanette Drnek, who he affectionately and yet teasingly liked to call Netty Diane. Also at his side was his daughter Sarah Drnek, his son Dustin Drnek, his granddaughters Morgan and Averie Drnek, as well as his niece and true hero on Earth, Crystal Reynolds, who graciously helped the family bring him home and took care of him allowing him to pass peacefully and with the dignity that he deserved, for which the family will be eternally indebted. John was truly a gentle giant whose giant stature exemplified the size of his heart and the strength of his character. Known to some as Dad, Papa, Johnny, John boy and ironically Tiny, whatever name one knew him by one thing always remained the same, his evident love, dedication, patience, and humility for the ones he held dear. John worked hard for many years to take care of his family, evident by his signature calloused and motor oiled hands that held many wrenches along with the many hands of his wife, two children, two grandchildren and extended family. John could always be counted on to help anyone he could in any way he could. Whether that be fixing a broken car or a broken heart. If it was within his power, it was done and if by chance it wasn’t, he would move heaven and earth to make it happen. Everyone who knew John loved him. His fun-loving nature, quick wit and charm made him the life of any party. Always there with a joke or funny sarcastic rebuttal, there was always a laugh to be had with him. Unfortunately, we will only have the memories of those laughs to attempt to fill the giant hole that he has left in the wake of his passing. However, John would not want us to sit in our sadness, but rather make new laughs and new memories in his honor with the good times left to be had. John is predeceased by his father John L. Drnek and his mother Gwendolyn Drnek. John is survived by his sister Mary Drnek and brothers Peter and James Drnek as well as numerous brothers and sisters-in-laws. John was also survived by his mother in-law Naomi Reynolds to whom he was simply John Boy and loved as if she were his own mother. Here’s to all the fully stocked garages and fishing holes beyond the veil of the heavens. May the engines always roar and the fish always bite. John P.
