John Coffey

John Michael Coffey 2/9/1960 - 9/28/2022 John was born in Chicago, IL to Robert and Joanne. He worked for ComEd for 22 years before retiring in 2014.  John married Alice on 1/25/2008 in Las Vegas, NV surrounded by John's parents and sister (Patty). The Coffeys moved to Belvidere, IL in 2017. John loved to play cards at the Keene Age Center, The Moose and The American Legion. In 2020 John and his wife started hosting cards twice a week. There was always lots of laughter and food at the Coffey's house. John loved all types of sports. He was a true Chicago Bears and White Sox fan. You could ask him any football or baseball question and he knew the answer. John loved telling his friends and family about his adventures with his sister and best friends (Andy, Rick, Danny and Jimmy). John was a soft-spoken man, which hid the mischievous prankster that he was. John was a fighter. He was diagnosed with Colon Cancer in 2014. At the time of diagnosis, he was given two years. He never gave up and continued to 'amaze' his doctors year after year. John was preceded in death by his father Robert. He is survived by his wife Alice, mother Joanne, sister Patty, stepsons Shane (Chrissy) and Gary (Tiffany) along with four grandchildren.
