CELEBRATION OF LIFE UPDATED: Jerrold “Jerry” W. Lewig, 75, of Rockford, died in his home August 11, 2019. Born November 21, 1943 in Tyler, Minnesota; son of Wendell L. and Cora L. (Almhjeld) Lewig. Jerry loved people, he donated many hours to the Sandy Hollow K-Mart over the years as a greeter and parking lot attendant. He made many friends with employees and customer while there. He loved to collect many things over the years including bottle caps, butter boxes to make trains, paper that he cut into confetti, aluminum cans, and pop tabs, which he donated to the Ronald McDonald House. He had collected over 60 pigs, whether figurines, stuffed…you name it, he had it. He was the king of playing marbles, and enjoyed boating and fishing, and listening to country western music. ? He will be missed by his sisters Arlene Gran of Sioux Falls, SD, and Jeanette Aspaas of Rockford; nieces and nephews Jeff Gran, Kim Moser, Pam Sullivan, Gail Freyman, Diane Fennel, Dawn (Ray) Pfeil, and Shayne Aspaas; great-nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart Taylor (Chas) Cross, Connor Pfeil, Maxton Pfeil, Ashley (Jose Cruz) Aspaas, Austin Aspaas, and Aiden Aspaas; and great-great nieces and nephew Mya and Niko Cruz, and Oaklyn Cross. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister LaVonne (Howard) Soma, brothers-in-law Robert Aspaas and Curtis Gran, and nephews Dennis and Kevin Soma. Memorial Service will be at 2 pm, Sunday, August 25, 2019 in the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 3829 11th St., Rockford, IL 61109 with a visitation to follow until 5 pm. A private burial of cremated remains will be September 14, 2019 in Balaton, Minnesota. Stateline Cremations is assisting the family.
