Jennifer Salcedo

October 6, 1977 — September 26, 2025

Jennifer Lynn Salcedo, 47, of Machesney Park, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025, at UW Swedish American Hospital. She was born on October 6, 1977, in Rockford; the daughter of John and Bonnie (Penticoff) Birkett. Jennifer graduated from Christian Life in 1994 and went on to graduate from UC Berkley with a double bachelor's degree. She had worked as a camp counselor and camp leader for CYO in California, which was an environmental camp. She had also worked as a pharmacy tech at CVS. Jennifer was very smart and well educated and had a great sense of humor. She enjoyed playing the guitar, loved to write, and was a good cook. She was a very generous and giving person. If it was in her power to help someone, she would. Jennifer cared a lot about troubled kids and disadvantaged women. She was very loving but had her own strong opinions. She had a beautiful smile, and her family will miss her.

Survivors include her daughter, who she loved more than life itself, Eleanor Salcedo; her parents John and Bonnie Birkett; brother Michael (Christy) Birkett; nephews Jaden and Jacob Birkett and Nicholas (Andrea) Russell; special friends in California Sarah and Shanna; her close cousin Max and special friend Andy; and her pet cat Archie.

The family would like to extend their thanks to Jennifer's Uncle and Aunt Rick and Mona Penticoff.
