Jay Meier

Jay William Meier of Rockton, IL earned his angel wings passing away Saturday, July 3, 2021. He was born January 15, 1983, at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio to George Meier and Becki Schacht. Jay married his best friend and wife of 22 years, Ashley Meier.  Jay as a child was full of life and energy. His love of animals was beyond measure, just ask the skunk he caught on foot and brought into his bedroom. There was not a single video game that Jay could not master, and it carried into adulthood. He loved playing football for Win-Du-Pec. The biggest Chicago Bear’s fan ever. He spent a lot of time fishing with Grandpa Lyman and his brother-in-law Tory. He cherished his numerous little road trips with his dad and his backyard time with his father-in-law Troy. Jay was an avid disc golfer and was often found at Porter Park with his Wolf Pack. He enjoyed going out morel mushroom hunting with his girls and family. Jay had many jobs over the years, but his two favorites were his carpet and repo professions. His greatest job of all, by choice, was raising his four children. There wasn’t a babysitter good enough for him on this earth. He was the best Daddy ever. He was the funniest person around and treated his friends as family. Jay would move mountains for loved ones in times of need and stand by them through the heaviest obstacles. He will forever live through his children and in our dearest memories. I know he will continue to look down and protect his family just as he always has. Jay always said, “I want to be a beacon of light in this world of darkness”, and he was. Survived by his devoted Wife Ashley of Rockton, IL, four children, Kaylee 13, Emma 11, Aria 5, Jace 4, Parents George Meier and Becki Schacht, Sister Chrissy (Noah), Brother-In-Law Tory Springer (Krystal), Mother-In-Law Peggy Schultz (Todd), Father-In-Law Troy Springer (Tracy), Maternal Grandmother Carole Johnson (Don), Paternal Grandmother Lois Meier, Grandmother Emelie Springer, Grandmother Beverly Schacht. Several special Siblings, Jim, Jeremy, Nick, Jim, Rick, George, and Marie. Many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews and special Niece Liana. He is preceded in death by Maternal Grandfather Lyman Schacht, Paternal Grandfather Frank Meier, Grandfather J.G. Springer, Grandparents Joan and Larry Plumb, Uncle Ronnie Meier, and his beloved stepdad J.J. Lowery. There will be a Celebration of Life Ceremony on Friday, July 16th at the Cabin in Porter Park, 6598 Windflower Lane, Roscoe from 3:00-8:00 P.M.
