Janet Nimm

October 21, 1933 — January 19, 2025

Janet Gladys (Kottal, Kittel) Nimm, 91, of Rockford, IL, passed away on January 19, 2025. She was born on October 21, 1933, in Duluth, MN, raised in Racine, WI, and spent her adult life in Rockford, IL. Janet proudly worked for more than 30 years as a rural mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service where she met Franklin "Frank" Nimm, they were devoted to each other for over 25 years before he passed away. Outside of work, Janet loved to add a little sparkle to her life, often wearing shiny jewelry that reflected her vibrant personality. A devoted Green Bay Packers fan, she enjoyed decorating her home with the team's colors and always looked forward to getting her hair done each week. Known for her fun-loving, bubbly nature and contagious laughter, Janet cherished meeting friends for Bible study, cards, dominos, breakfast and traveling. Any reason to get together she was thrilled. She also had a deep fondness for cats, which she expressed through her home décor and wardrobe. Family was incredibly important to Janet, and she had a special bond with her sisters and her only grandchild Kelly. She loved spending time with them, and their connection was a source of great joy in her life. She is survived by her son Curtis "Curt" Kittel; daughter-in-law Karen Streeter; granddaughter Kelly (Tony) Ziegelbauer; great-grandchildren Kael, Madison, and Embree Ziegelbauer; siblings Donald "Early Dawn" Kottal, Kathleen "Kathy" Sheehan, Patricia "Patti" Mireles, Rosanne "Rosi" Repinski, and dear friend Charlotte "Char" Morley. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Anam Memory Care and Mo Cara Hospice for their grace and passion during the last few years and weeks. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Enola (Stipe) Kottal; her husband Frank Nimm; her son Clifford "Cliff" Kittel; and her sister Marylyn (Kottal) Murphy.
