James Walz

James “Jim” J. Walz, 76, of Belvidere, passed away at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center on May 22, 2023. He was born on April 23, 1947, in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, the son of Elgie and Lena (Mergen) Walz. He worked for Chrysler as an assembler for over 30 years and retired in 1997. Jim married Gail Jean Gasper on July 9, 1979; she passed away December 19, 2022. Jim loved golfing and his favorite golf course was Swan Hill in Belvidere. He was a woodworker and made many golf clubs over the years. He was also a huge NASCAR fan. He enjoyed watching Bill Elliott back in the day and more currently watched Ryan Blaney. He and his wife Gail enjoyed bowling. Survivors include his sons Jim (Jodi) Walz and Jesse Walz. He is predeceased by his parents and his loving wife Gail.
