James Alexander Robertson, 39, of Rockford, passed away on May 11, 2023. He was born on August 26, 1983, the son of Carl and Karen (Wolfe) Robertson. He graduated from Proviso West High School in Hillside, IL in 2001. He served in the Marine Corps. James had worked as a security guard at Westlake Hospital and had volunteered in Bellwood, IL in emergency management. James had many interests. He was a history buff and enjoyed participating in Civil War reenactments. He was the head of the Winnebago County Ghostbusters and was involved in parades and charity events. He was also a gamer and enjoyed playing Dungeons and Dragons and Warhammer. James was a full-time dad to his girls and enjoyed being “Mr. Mom”. His daughters were his world and he lit up whenever he was around them. He also loved animals and had a small farm in their home. They have 3 dogs, 8 cats, 3 ferrets, and 1 snake. Many rescues have come and gone over the years in the Robertson home. James is survived by his significant other of more than 15 years Tammy Gregg; daughters Alia, Kaylee, and Zelda Robertson; parents Carl and Karen Robertson; “father-in-law” Eddie Gregg; “brother-in-law” Tim (Linda Lieb) Gregg; aunts Carol and Tina Wolfe; cousins Matthew, Denise, Tanya, and Rhiannon; many great aunts and uncles; and his best friend Charlene (Jorge) Vazquez. He is predeceased by his maternal and paternal grandparents, and “mother-in-law” Irene (Lane) Gregg.
