James Browning Poston, 84 of Machesney Park passed away on March 30, 2020. He was born February 3, 1936 in Montana. Jim was adopted by Grace (Browning) and Henry Poston as an infant. He graduated from Rock Island High School in 1954. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Jim worked for Rockford Blacktop for 26 years and than went on to work for FedEx for 20 years. Jim will be greatly missed by family and friends. He never met a stranger, he would talk to anyone. He was never at a loss for words. He will always be known as a hard working family man. He was an avid Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs and Nascar fan. Jim is survived by his wife Kathleen of 31 years. Sons: Ron, Jeff, John, and David. Daughter: Jamie. Step-Son: Ryan(Denise) Volkert. Special Grandson (son) Travis Volkert. Numerous grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. The Celebration of Life will be at a later date due to the COVID-19.
