James “Pep/Jim” Pipitone, 79, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, with his best friend and companion dog, Aaliya by his side. James was born in Beloit, Wisconsin to William “Bill” and Jean Pipitone on February 6, 1943. James lived in Rockford for most of his life but spent a few years residing in South Carolina. James eventually moved back to Rockford to be reunited and closer to his family in his older years. Upon moving to Rockford, he became a bailiff at the Winnebago County Courthouse. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson. Most importantly, James loved serving his community by volunteering for the Rockford Police Department as often as he could. James is survived by his children, Nick (Leigh) Pipitone, Katrina “Tina” Pipitone, and Mellissa (Steve) Pipitone-Tallacksen; grandchildren, Amnesty, Kayla, Nico, Sofia, Brody, and Drew; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters; furry friend, Aaliya. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Jean; son, Jay L. Pipitone. A Celebration of Life for James will be announced at a later date.
