James Choppi

James Carl Choppi, 68, of Rockford, died August 5th, 2020. Jim was born February 23rd, 1952 in Rockford, Illinois, son of Carl and Lenore Choppi. He attended Rockford schools including Rock Valley College where he majored in computer science. Jim was baptized at Centennial United Methodist Church. Jim was a free spirit who loved to fish, ride his bike, and travel. Jim also enjoyed sitting by the river, feeding the squirrels while enjoying nature. Survived by son, Michael, brother Patrick (Marina) Veit, sisters Pam Veit, Sharon Choppi, and Frances Larosa. He had a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, and one special niece Toni Choppi. He was predeceased by his mother and father, brother Michael, niece Teresa, and great nephew James L. Choppi. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
