Jake E. Lee Smith, 29, of Machesney Park, passed away unexpectedly on April 1, 2022. Jake was born on September 14, 1992, in Lowell, Massachusetts; son of Glen Smith and Theresa Sadler. He graduated from Harlem High School in 2008. He worked for both Jamco Products and Fives. Jake was studying Buddhism and was raising his son in that belief. He enjoyed watching football, especially the Chicago Bears and the New England Patriots. During high school he was the singer in the band Embalmment and played local venues in the area. Jake had a love for music and enjoyed listening to Wednesday 13. He would go to resale shops to find horror movies and alternative music. He was a portrait artist as well. The most important thing to Jake was his son Draven. Survivors include his son Draven E. Lee West; girlfriend Brittnay West; father Glen Smith; mother Theresa (Gregory) Kammes; maternal grandmother Margaret Sadler; aunts Christine Foroutan, Mary Wyatt; uncles Timothy (Anne) Sadler, and Kevin Sadler; numerous cousins with a special thank you to his cousins Sebastian and Melissa Foroutan and Christopher Guthrie for always being there for Jake when he needed them; paternal uncle Bill Smith; and many friends. He is predeceased by his maternal grandfather Robert Sadler; paternal grandparents; and aunt Lisa Smith. There will be a Celebration of Life in late spring and will announced when it is scheduled.
