Howard Kerley

Howard L. Kerley, Sr., 76, of Rockford, passed away on December 20, 2022, in Alden Park Strathmoor Nursing Home. Born August 29, 1946, in Corning, Arkansas; the son of Raymond and Lena (Dudley) Kerley. Howard graduated from Reyno High School in Arkansas. He worked for Cotta Transmission for over 30 years as a machinist. Howard loved music and played for several local bands for 30 plus years. He was a member of the White Eagle Club, and an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Howard was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Survivors include his children Howard (Kitty) Kerley, Jr. and Melissa (Pete) Penn; grandchildren Jordan (Martika), Morgan (Isaha); great-grandchildren Damian, Ayden, Layla, and Isaha; brothers, Willis, Monte (Paulette), Wayne, and Bob Kerley; many nieces and nephews and caregiver Linda Kerley. He is predeceased by his parents; daughter Teresa; and siblings Willene, Joanne, Ray, Thomas, and Leon. A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, February 25, 2023 from 1:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. at the White Eagle Club, 235 15th Avenue, Rockford, IL 61104.
