Hervell Julia Fuse, 78, of Rockford, passed away on August 3, 2022, in her home. She was born August 14, 1943, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of William Morris and Carrie Blackman. She graduated from Dunbar Vocational High School in 1962 and Johnson & Well Culinary Institute in 1990. She was the first female repair tech to work for Sears & Roebuck in 1976 and after graduating from culinary school she was a pastry chef at the Clocktower Resort and Mary’s Market Bakery. She was a woman of faith and attended Banner of Truth Family Church. She enjoyed reading, drawing, painting, and using hand tools. Hervell is survived by her daughter Zonca Fuse Thompson, son-in-law Ray Thompson, 3 granddaughters Vashta Thompson Fields, Niambi Joaquin, Aishea Bouromphongsa, 8 great grandchildren Lianna, Hershel, Alva, Erryiah, Sayuri, Avia, and Leor. She is predeceased by parents, brother Herbert Morris, and nephew Eric Morris. A Memorial Service will be at 11 AM, Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Banner of Truth Family Church, 6732 Harrison Ave., Rockford, IL 61108 with Rev. Phillip Williams officiating.
