Henry “Hinie” A.J. Schumacher, 82, of Machesney Park, passed away in his home on June 27, 2024. He was born on October 24, 1941, in Woodstock, IL; the son of Henry and Florence (Groskinsky) Schumacher. Hinie was in the US Marine Corps. He married Sally (Ward) Davis on September 1, 1990, she predeceased him on September 19, 2023. Hinie worked as a truck driver for many years delivering gas for KTI, and then worked for R&L until retirement. He was a member of the VFW in Woodstock and the Moose Club in both Harvard and Flora, IL. He was a putzer and never sat still. Hinie always made sure things were clean and taken care of. He and Sally had been camp hosts at Rock Cut State Park for 3 years until his cancer diagnosis. His dog Abby is missing him very much.
Survivors include his children Wendy (LeRoy) Knake, Brenda (Scott) Vance, James Scott Davis, Cindy Davis-Nolan, Robert Davis, and Sandra (Scott) Smith; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandson Waylon; siblings Mary Knake, Beverly Klingle, Joan Baurel, Jean (Sam) Johnson, and Donna Garbe; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents; wife Sally; and sisters Kathryn Schumacher and Helen Mack.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am, Friday, July 12, 2024, at the Capron United Methodist Church, 250 E. North St. Capron, IL 61012. There will be a luncheon to follow the service and then burial of ashes with military honors at the Oakland Cemetery, 698 W. Jackson St, Woodstock, IL 60098.
