Helen Grassl

Helen Grassl, 92, of Rockford, passed away on September 1, 2022. She was born on December 23, 1929, in South Dakota; the daughter of Robert and Gertrude (Schmitz) Wheelock. Helen was a member of St. Peter’s Church in South Beloit. She had a wonderful sense of humor. She enjoyed latch hook, reading, and gardened with her husband with both flower and vegetable gardens. She and Arthur spent their retirement traveling and enjoyed spending their winters in either Florida or Texas.  Helen's family would like to thank Helen's friend, Theresa Paradiso and ProMedica Hospice, especially Angel, Angie, Maggie, and Joe for all of their assistance and support through this journey. Helen is survived by her children Kathleen (William) Stone, Donald (Julie) Grassl, Rose (William) Havens, and James Grassl; 8 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents; husband Arthur Grassl; siblings Robert, James, Clifford, and William Wheelock, and Patricia Pink; and grandchildren Alexandria and Arthur Havens. A burial will take place at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI at a later date.
